Who we are
Laurentian Tours is a fishing charter and guide service run by Richard Drake out of Alexandria Bay, New York. In this policy, "we," "us," and "our" mean Laurentian Tours. This policy covers laurentiantours.com.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you fill out the trip request form, we collect your name, phone number, email address, preferred and backup dates, the trip you're interested in, how many people are coming, whether kids are coming, how you'd like to be contacted, how you heard about us, and anything you type in the notes. If you call, text, or email us, we have whatever you share there too.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps basic technical logs (such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. If you allow analytics cookies, we also collect anonymous information about how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed, roughly where visitors are located (city or region), what device they use, and how they found us.
Information stored on your device. The site remembers a few things in your own browser so it works smoothly, like your cookie choice and a draft of the booking form if you leave partway through. That information stays on your device and isn't sent to us until you submit the form.
How we use it
- To answer your request, schedule and confirm your trip, and contact you about it.
- To keep records of trips and bookings.
- To understand how people use the site so we can improve it.
- To keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse.
- To follow the law and protect our rights if we ever need to.
We won't add you to a marketing email list without asking first.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your personal information. We only share it with:
- Service providers that help run the site and deliver your request, such as our website host (Vercel), our email provider, and Google Analytics. They can only use it to provide their service to us.
- Other guides in the Alexandria Bay Fishing Guides Association, only if your group is too big for one boat and you've asked us to arrange extra boats. We share just what they need to run the trip.
- Authorities, if the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
Analytics and advertising
We use (or may use) Google Analytics to see how the site is used, and Google Search Console to see how the site shows up in Google search. Search Console doesn't place cookies on your device. In the future we may run ads through Google Ads or Meta (Facebook and Instagram). If we do, those services may use cookies or similar tools to measure ads and show ads to people who visited our site. You can turn advertising cookies off anytime with the link at the bottom of every page, and we automatically honor the Global Privacy Control signal if your browser sends it. See our Cookie Policy for details.
You can also opt out of Google Analytics across all sites with Google's opt-out browser add-on, and manage ad settings at Google Ad Settings and in your Meta ad preferences.
How long we keep it
We keep trip requests and booking details as long as we need them to serve you and keep reasonable business records, generally no more than three years after your last trip or inquiry, unless the law requires longer. Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics' retention settings (we use 14 months).
How we protect it
The site uses HTTPS encryption, and form submissions are sent straight to our email. We don't store them in a website database. No method of sending or storing information is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you share with us.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we have about you, correct it, or delete it. Just call 315-836-5798 or email dickyducks74@icloud.com. We'll answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and other states with privacy laws), you may have additional rights, such as opting out of targeted advertising. We'll honor those requests no matter which state you live in, and we won't treat you differently for making one.
Kids' privacy
Kids are welcome on the boat, but this website isn't directed to children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their personal information online. Parents or guardians should fill out the trip request. If you think a child sent us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Links to other sites
Our site links to other websites, like fishing license pages and the Alexandria Bay Fishing Guides Association. We're not responsible for their privacy practices, so check their policies too.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Big changes will be noted on the site.
