Terms & conditions.
The ground rules for using this website and booking a trip with Richard. Plain English, no fine-print surprises.
Last updated October 12, 2026
The short version
- Sending the form is a request, not a confirmed booking. Your trip is set once Richard confirms it with you.
- Prices on the site are a guide. Richard confirms the final price when he books your trip.
- Safety comes first. Richard can delay, shorten, or reschedule for weather or water conditions.
- Anglers 16 and older need a valid fishing license, and everyone follows fishing and hunting regulations.
About these terms
These terms apply to laurentiantours.com and to trips booked with Laurentian Tours (Richard Drake, Alexandria Bay, New York). By using the site or booking a trip, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. Just give us a call instead.
Trip requests and bookings
- The booking form sends a request. A trip is confirmed only when Richard confirms the date, time, meeting place, and price with you directly by phone, text, or email.
- Richard doesn't require a deposit to book. If your plans change, please let him know as soon as you can so he can offer the date to someone else.
- The person who books is responsible for sharing trip details and these terms with everyone in their group.
- For groups larger than six, Richard hires additional licensed guides from the area. Extra boats depend on availability and aren't guaranteed until confirmed.
Prices
Prices shown on the site follow the Alexandria Bay Fishing Guides Association rate schedule and may change. The price Richard confirms for your trip is the one that applies. Specialty trips (musky, waterfowl, ice fishing, and sightseeing tours) are quoted individually.
Weather, water, and safety
- Richard makes the final call on whether it's safe to go out, where to go, and when to come in. That includes wind, waves, lightning, fog, ice conditions, and anything else that affects safety.
- If a trip is called off for weather or safety, Richard will reschedule with you at no charge.
- Children 12 and under must wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket while the boat is underway, as required by law. Life jackets are on board for everyone.
- Please follow the captain's instructions at all times. Richard may end a trip early if anyone's behavior puts people or the boat at risk, including impairment from alcohol or drugs.
- Tell Richard before the trip about any medical conditions, mobility limits, or allergies he should know about (including food allergies for shore dinners).
Licenses and regulations
Anglers 16 and older need a valid fishing license (New York or Ontario, depending on where you'll fish; Richard will tell you which). Waterfowl hunters must hold the required hunting licenses, stamps, and permits and have completed any required hunter education. Everyone must follow seasons, size limits, and catch limits. Protected species, like lake sturgeon, are released right away.
Assumption of risk
Fishing, hunting, boating, and ice fishing are outdoor activities with real risks, including slips and falls, hooks and sharp equipment, sun and cold exposure, changing weather, waves and wakes, and, for ice trips, ice conditions. By booking, you understand and accept these risks for yourself and anyone in your party you are responsible for. Richard may ask trip participants to sign a separate waiver before departure.
Personal belongings and catches
You're responsible for your own belongings on the boat and on shore. We aren't responsible for lost or damaged items. No specific catch, species, size, or harvest is guaranteed. That's fishing.
Photos
Richard may take photos during trips. With your permission, he may share them on this website or social media. Just let him know if you'd rather not appear in any photos.
